Melva Ruby Chapman, 83, of Ridgway, Illinois passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She was born on June 9, 1938 in Cave In Rock, the daughter of the late William Henry “Willie” and the Reverend Norma Mae (Clark) Lane. Melva retired as a forklift operator at the B&W Company at Mt. Vernon, Indiana. Also, she was a member of the Ohio Valley General Baptist Church in Shawneetown. Melva is survived by her daughter, Janet and Danny Marshall of Shawneetown; her grandson, Bryan and Christina Marshall of Canutillo, Texas; her granddaughter, Gwyn Marshall of Shawneetown; her sister, Ellen “Josie” Darter of Marion; her brother, Mack and Debbie Lane of Eldorado; three grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, and Morgyn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dennis Lane; four brothers, Bill, Roy, Larry, and Johnny Lane; three sisters, Betty Kerley, Della Price and Lily Mae Lane. Visitation for Melva will be held on Wednesday, February 16th from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Pastor Michael Rushing will officiate the service with burial to follow at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.
