Larry Uselton

Larry Uselton, age 73 of Shawneetown passed away June 6, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family.  Larry graduated from Shawneetown High School in 1969. He was a businessman who began his career repairing TVs and continued to open and grow a large furniture and appliance store serving the surrounding counties. Over the years he operated several business ventures with the overall goal to serve his friends and neighbors in his beloved hometown.  As a retired lifetime member of the Shawneetown Volunteer Fire Department, Larry enjoyed the camaraderie and was fulfilled by the opportunity to provide assistance to others in times of need.  Family and friends will always remember Larry as fun-loving, jovial, and personable, never meeting a stranger. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren, and extended family members. Larry enjoyed portraying Santa Claus each Christmas requiring a considerable greater amount of padding in his early years to complete the role than in more recent years. Larry always had a story to tell and his family will remember these stories with a smile for years to come.  He is survived by his wife Vickie, children and their spouses, Kellie and Dexter Russelburg of Evansville, IN, Logan and Heidi Uselton of Shawneetown, IL, Bailey and Kelby Nesbitt of West Layfayette, IN, grandchildren, Alex Wallace, Peyton Russelburg, Autumn Russelburg, Dakota Uselton, Kyanna Uselton, Olivia Adams, Evelyn Adams, and Bentlee Nesbitt, siblings Kelley Uselton of Harrisburg, IL, and June Kerr of Lafayette, IN.  He was preceded in death by his son Michael Uselton, his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.  A Celebration of Life  for Larry will be Saturday, July 1st from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Shawneetown Fire House. .  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown in charge of the arrangements.
