James Albert “Jim” Head, 92, of Shawneetown, Illinois passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 after an extended illness. He was born into a large loving family on March 27. 1930 near Shawneetown, the son of the late Albert and Sarah Elizabeth (Williams) Head. Jim was a retired farmer and a member of the Emmanual United Methodist Church. He married the former Betty Jo Caldwell on the 10th of March of 1951. Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Head of Shawneetown; one son, Mike and Phyllis Head of Shawneetown; one daughter, Robin and Robert Stacy of Junction; one brother, Bill Head of Shawneetown; three grandchildren, Jamie Stricklin of Shawneetown, Robin and Brad Riggs of Herrin, Amber and Justin Anthony of Daphne, Alabama; five great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Fisher, Harper, Chloe, and Natalie; and caregiver, Robin Moore. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Brandon Michael Head; three sisters, Wilma Ruth McDermott, Eula Mae Berlin, and Sarah Elizabeth Rich. Jim’s visitation will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. The Reverend Cherrie Roan will officiate with burial to follow at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.
