James Earl “Jim” Haney, 79, of Harrisburg, Illinois, passed away after an extended illness on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Jim was born on May 3, 1942 in Horseshoe, the one of six sons born to William and Pearl (Baker) Haney. He married the love of his life Catherine Marie (Swinford) on December 3rd of 1966. Sadly Catherine passed away on September 9th of 2018. Jim was at one time in the Army Reserves and a church member of the Saline Ridge Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and after retiring he worked a while at Hathaway Feed Seed & Yard near Harrisburg. Also he served on the Saline County Farm Bureau Board. Jim is survived by his devoted son, Tim Haney of Harrisburg; one brother, Roger and Mary Beth Haney of Murray, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Charles, Bill, Darrell, and Bob Haney. Visitation for Jim will be held on Wednesday, January 5th from 11 a.m. until service time at Noon at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg with the Reverend Chris McKenzie officiating.
