Iris Gowan Obituary

Iris Mae Gowan, 79, of Equality, Illinois, passed away after an extended illness at her home on Friday, April 29th, 2022.   She was born in Shawneetown on December 29th of 1942, the daughter of the late Cecil and Mildred Iris (Mahan) Milligan.  Iris married Bruce Gowan on June 28th of 2010.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Equality Post 595 for over thirty years.  Iris is survived by her husband Bruce Gowan of Equality; two daughters, Penny Bond of Eldorado, Tina and David Lindsey of San Antonio, Texas; one step son, Brad and Angie Gowan of Equality; one sister, Connie Williams of Equality; eight grandchildren, Kahla Graham of Chicago, Dakota Bond of Evansville, Indiana, Brittany Shae Bond of Carmi, Alex Lindsey of San Antonio, Texas, SST Christina Lindsey of Wahiawa, Hawaii, SST Sarah Lindsey of Wiesbaden, Germany, Chelsea Gowan of Carmi, Dylan Gowan of Eldorado; two great grandsons, Kyson and Kainen.   She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Cecil “Mus” Milligan Jr., Ronnie Milligan and Thomas Milligan.  Visitation for Iris will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 12 p.m. (Noon) until service time at 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  Pastor Curt Morris will officiate the service.  Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.
