Obituary

Eugene Lester Mason, 87, of rural Equality, Illinois, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 16, 2023.  He was born on December 25, 1935 in Decatur, the son of the late Victor and Marie (Tanzyus) Mason.  On May 26, 1956 he married the former Dolores Vinyard, who preceded him in death on November 22, 1991.  Eugene owned and operated until his retirement Halsey’s Hydraulic Service in Decatur.  He was  a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.   He is survived by his four children, Barbara O’Connor, Terry Mason, Bill Mason, and Suzie Bloomfield.  Eugene is also survived by ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers and sisters.  Visitation for Eugene will be held on Tuesday, September 19th from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. (Noon) at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  Graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Leamington Cemetery near Junction.
