Wanda Ruth Walters

Wanda Ruth Smock Walters, 74, of 217 W. Townsend Ave., Shawneetown; passed away at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg at 9:40 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009. She was born on April 26, 1935 in Shawneetown, the daughter of Charles Arnold and Rachel Ann (Cutrell) Smock. Wanda was married to Evert Walters for thirty-two years. They were married on December 5, 1953 and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2000. Wanda was a store clerk, homemaker, and Golden Circle co-ordinator and a member of the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth and Lynn Walters of Elizabethtown, Darrell and Jeanine Walters of Shawneetown; her daughter, Joyce and David Dortch of Junction; two sisters, Dorothy Frields of Shawneetown, Mary McKenzie of Weston, W. Va.; five grandchildren, Jessica Howard, Krystal Mitchell, Tessa Butler, Logen Walters, Lanna Walters; and two great grandchildren, Gracie and Olivia Howard. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Geneva Orman; two brothers, Charles and Donald Smock. Visitation for Wanda will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown with Brother Jack Hall officiating.
