Vada Lorene Lentlie, 98, of Equality, Ill., passed away at her home in Equality on Sunday, 17th day of July, 2016, at 8:35 p.m. Vada was born February 3, 1918 in Equality. Her parents were John Owen and Effie Annie (Huntsman) Baldwin. After graduating Equality High School she attended Raley’s School of Beauty Culture in Harrisburg and opened her own shop in Equality. When her sister, Ann, was in the Boehne Sanitarium in Evansville, Ind., Vada took a job in THE Beauty Shop in Evansville to be near her. During World War II Vada spent a month in New York City being trained by the Roux Company to market their products and troubleshoot hair coloring disasters. She was assigned to Cleveland, Ohio, where she was the top saleswoman several years in a row. Vada attended night school at Fenn College where she met, and later married, Frank A. Lentlie on July 5, 1952. Vada received a real estate license and sold homes in the south suburbs of Cleveland. Following Frank’s retirement on July 1, 1977, Frank and Vada moved to Casselberry, Fla. to enjoy life together until Frank’s death in January of 1992. Vada returned to Equality in September of 1998 where she has lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Anna Ellen Baldwin, and brothers, Charles and Billy B. Baldwin. Vada is survived by one sister, Mary John Wasson of Equality. Visitation for Vada will be Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Williams officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.
