Sherman Shell

Sherman Leon Shell, 82, longtime resident of Shawneetown, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025 at the SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Born in Shawneetown on November 29th, 1942, he was the son of the late Sherman and Emma Eileen (Knowles) Shell. Sherman was a retired Coal Miner. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed visiting with his coal mining friends. Sherman is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in the death by his parents: his three brothers, William, Bobbie, and Glendall Shell and his infant sister. Visitation for Sherman will be held on Saturday, June 28th from 11 a.m until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Brother John B. Jones will officiate the service with burial to follow at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.
