Ruby H. (Porter) Oxford

Ruby H. Oxford, 83, of Elk Grove Village,  formerly of Shawneetown; passed away, Monday, September 14, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Shawneetown on February 26, 1932 to Charles and Hazel (Tucker) Porter. She is survived by her children Don (Debbie) Oxford, Gail (David) Kook, Ruth Swinford, Roger Oxford, Marla (Tim) Forst, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four sisters, and one brother.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Duard, and son Ron. Ruby was a loving mother, supportive grandmother, and great grandmother.  Her favorite pastime was spending quality time with her family and was always up for a good game of Skip-Bo. The grandchildren all enjoyed pitting their skills against Nana, and didn’t often win.  She will be greatly missed by all.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17th at Friedrichs Funeral Home in  Mt. Prospect from 4 to 8 p.m.  Service will follow at 8 p.m. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown,  Saturday, September 19th at 1 p.m. with Vickery Funeral Chapel of Shawneetown in charge of local arrangements.  In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions may be made to her church of 41 years, Brentwood Baptist Church, 588 Dara James, Des Plaines, IL. 60016.
