Roy Gene "R.G." Berry 89, of Gallatin County, Illinois, passed away February 11, 2026. He was the second son born to Wilson L. and Ruth (Hooper) Berry in East Prairie, Missouri, on January 11, 1937. Surviving is Marilyn Thornbrough, whom he married 72 years ago in Corinth Mississippi, and they have resided in Gallatin County, Illinois for over sixty-six years.

 Also surviving is a daughter, Janice and Burnie Ditterline of Lake Wales, Florida, a son-in-law, Gary Flahardy of Shawneetown, Illinois, three grandchildren, Jonathon Wesley Cook of Evansville, Indiana, Jason Roy Brannon of Junction, Illinois, and Kasey Rae and Jason Brazier, also of Junction, IL. Great Grandchildren are Jasie Blair of Shawneetown, Illinois, Logan, Karson, Zoey, & Laney Brannon, and Mckenna & Matthew Brazier all of Junction, Illinois, and chosen great grandchildren, Mason Blair & Chila Blair, of Shawneetown, IL, and a special nephew Brian and Virgie Patton, also of Shawneetown, Illinois. 

R.G. was a long-time resident of Shawneetown, having served as an alderman, and he and Marilyn were the owners of R.G. Berry Trucking, Inc. for nearly sixty-six years. He was avid fisherman and duck hunter and enjoyed several of his last years in the country, mowing on his tractor and raising horses and cattle. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cathy Brannon Flahardy, five sisters, Peggy Sue Berry, Sharon Keith, Caroline Gentles, Janet Frailey and Linda Daily, and 3 brothers, Jim, Lonnie, and Donnie. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Vickery Funeral Chapel of Shawneetown, Illinois, cremation and no service, per his wishes.
