Robert Joseph Clayton, 81, of Shawneetown, passed away on Tuesday, May16, 2017, 9:45 a.m. at the Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehab in Carrier Mills. Bob was born on October 5, 1935,in Bethalto, Ill., the son of Charles L. “Pete” and Josephine (Dantz) Clayton. He owned and operated Clayton’s Texaco Station in Old Shawneetown. Also he was a Army Veteran. Bob is survived by three sisters, Alice Gibbons of Shawneetown, Pearl Hyatt of Harrisburg, and Evelyn Belt of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dean, William Donald and Charles L. Clayton Jr. There will be a graveside service for Bob at the Westwood Cemetery on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. For those attending go directly to the cemetery. Military Rites by the Honor Guard of Marion. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown in charge of arrangements.
