Robert Santford Barnett

Robert Santford “Bob” Barnett, 93, of Equality passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015, 12 p.m., at the Eldorado Rehab and Health Center in Eldorado .  Bob was born in Equality on April 20, 1922, the son of Louis Santford and Margaret Elizabeth (Fuhr) Barnett.  He married his beloved wife of seventy-four years, Ida Marjorie Winterberger in 1942.  Bob began working for his father as a contractor while still in high school.  In 1962 he started as  owner and operator of the Barnett Ready Mix Company.  Bob was a church member, Elder and former Sunday School Superintendent of the Equality Presbyterian Church.  He is survived by his wife Marjorie Barnett of Equality; three daughters, Lynda and Jim Porter of Equality, Marthan and Claude Miner of Carmi, Sudie DeVous of Equality; one sister, Laverne “Tillie” Baker of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren, Dr. James and Dr. Kristy Porter of Newburgh, Ind., Dr. Jill and Jeremy Williamson of Newburgh, Ind., Julie and Chris Lucas of Carmi, Jason Miner of Evansville, Ind., Joy and Paul Short of Norris City, John Mark and Tabitha DeVous of Equality, Jeffrey and Hannah DeVous of Fresno, Cal., Joel DeVous of Equality and Jacob DeVous of Equality; twelve Great Grandchildren, Krislyn, Kaitlyn, and Madelyn Porter; Caleb, Lucas, and Hadley Williamson; Drew and Sydney Lucas; Seth, Briar, and Alexa Short and Noah DeVous.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Margaret Gwen Barnett.  Visitation for Bob will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  Funeral service will be at the Equality Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Miner officiating.  Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.  Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Equality Presbyterian Church.
