Norma (Smith) Noel

Norma Noel, age 90, of Omaha, Ill., died peacefully at her home with her family at her side on Friday, March 27, 2015. Norma was born on November 14, 1924 in Eldorado, Ill., to the late Benjamin Walter and Ida Jane (Cantrell) Smith. She graduated from Eldorado High School. On July 25, 1943, she married Leon Noel and they resided in the Cottonwood Community. Leon preceded her in death on October 3, 1989. Norma was a homemaker and loved her family and her hobbies of quilting and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She had been a member of the Gallatin County Home Extension, Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Cottonwood Club, and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star - Ridgway Chapter #714. Norma is survived by her three children, Deanna (Russ) Lentz of Highland, Ill., Donna Stewart of Memphis, Tenn., Richard (Carla) Noel of Omaha, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Kim (Mike) Feaman of Waterloo, Ill., Lori Baxter of Manchester, Mo., John (Lynda) Stewart of Avon, Ind., Denia Lentz of Highland, Ill., Katie (David) Smith of Wadesville, Ind., Lottie (Danny) Kennedy of Omaha, Ill., Russell (Tara) Lentz of Highland, Ill., and Jonathon Noel of Omaha, Ill., and seven great grandchildren, Ashley and Zachary McGee, Caitlin and Noah Baxter, Laney Smith, Ethan Stewart and Azriel Lentz; one brother, John (Jane) Smith of Louisville, Ky.; two sister-in-laws, Betty Smith of Carbondale, Ill., and Susan Smith of Auburn, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Lloyd, Don, and Bob Smith; two sisters, Leda Bruce and Dorothy Braddock; two sisters-in-law, Vernell and Darlene Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Bruce and James Braddock. Visitation for Norma will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway with Eastern Star Rites beginning at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Bruce officiating.
