Mickey Mitchell, a devoted wife, mother, teacher, and a true servant of Christ, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by love. Born on August 2, 1944, in Equality, Illinois, Mickey spent her life embodying kindness and care, touching the hearts of all who knew her.Mickey dedicated her professional life to teaching at the Equality Christian Center, where she inspired countless students with her unwavering passion for education and her ability to make every lesson come alive. Her commitment to Christ not only shaped the lives of her students but also exemplified her deep belief in serving others, an ethos she lived out daily.Her personal life was equally rich, anchored by her love for her family. Mickey began a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Larry Mitchell on Febuary 20th, 1962. Together, they nurtured and raised three wonderful children: Kevin (Laura) Mitchell, Amy (Mark) Genet, and Eric (Jennifer) Mitchell, each of whom carries forward her spirit in their own unique ways. She delighted in being a grandmother to Katie (Sam) Shahine, Jon Mark (Whitney) Genet, Ben (Caitlyn) Genet, Mason (Shelby) Mitchell, Justin M. Genet, Emma Elizabeth Mitchell, and cherishing every moment spent with them, as well as being a great-grandmother to Joseph Shahine, Rose Shahine, Banks Genet, and Demi Genet whose laughter and joy she held close to her heart. She also leaves behind nieces Angie (Ron) Hendrix, Toni (Todd) Willis and nephew Brad (Angie) Gowen.

Mickey's personality shone brightly through her many interests, particularly her deep involvement in church activities, where she selflessly served her community and found great fulfillment. Her legacy is one of unwavering faith, compassion, and love—a guiding light for those she left behind. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Zelda Hobgood, two sisters, Phyllis Mandziara and Marla Gowan who undoubtedly welcomed her into eternity with open arms. Mickey's influence will be felt for years to come, as the values she instilled in her family and community resonate through their actions and lives. A graveside service to honor the memory of this remarkable woman will take place on December 6, 2025, at Elmwood Cemetery in Equality, Illinois, at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life, sharing stories and memories that highlight the incredible impact Mickey had on so many. As we bid farewell to a loving soul, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever embrace us, guiding us in our journeys with the same love and light she so generously shared.
