Mary Evelyn Schacknow

Mary Evelyn Schacknow, 98, of Harrisburg, Ill., formerly of Galatia, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Saline Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Harrisburg.  She was born on June 14, 1919 in Galatia, the daughter of Randall and Neomi (Pemberton) Smith.  Mary was a member of the Eldorado Gospel Assembly Church.  Survived by her son, Mark and Cheryll Schacknow of Box Springs, Ga.; three grandsons and three granddaughters; ten great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Jon Schacknow; one sister, Pauline Whitlock; three brothers, Denver, Victor, and Eugene Smith.  There will be a graveside service for Mary on Wednesday, March 28th at 11 a.m. at the Tates Chapel Cemetery near Galatia.  The Rev. L.D. Jolly will be officiating the service.  For those attending the service please go directly to the cemetery. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality are in charge of arrangements.
