Mary Kathleen Combs

Mary Kathleen Combs was born October 4, 1935, to Hershel and Vivian May (Taylor) Hopson in Sturgis, KY who preceded her in death. She was wed to Hubert Roy Combs on June 29, 1954.Together they built a family and legacy that will be remembered for years to come. Hubert and Mary had seven children: Belinda Sweat, Debbie Mosby, Steve (Mary) Combs, Ladonna (Rick) Gill, Daniel (Vanessa) Combs, Anthony Combs, and Kevin (Chris) Combs. Mary went by many names Mom, Grandma, Granny C, Nanny and Mammy. Her greatest prides were her 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her siblings Samuel Everett Hopson, Hershel Hopson Jr., Emma Jean (Andrew) Smith, and Joyce Ann (JW) Rider, and one son in law Floyd Mosby.

Mary was always spreading wisdom and disciple to her family. She was known for her great fried chicken. Her door was always open for a drink, meal, or just a conversation. Mary's love for her family and the Lord was always evident in her everyday life. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown, IL from 11:00AM until 12:00PM.  A funeral service will follow beginning at 12:00PM. Donations can be made in Mary's honor to Shawneetown First Baptist Church, in Shawneetown, IL.
