Born on July 4, 1950, in Harrisburg, Illinois, Marlene embraced life with a vigor that inspired all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth, kindness, and nurturing spirit made a profound impact on her family and friends, as she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her role as a homemaker.
Marlene's life was rich with love and laughter, exemplified by her unwavering commitment to her family. She is survived by her cherished husband, Denny Naas, whose companionship she treasured deeply. Marlene's legacy continues through her daughters, Kelly Sutton (Gabe) and Tina Money (Paul), and her son, Chad Naas (Katy), each of whom carry forward the values of compassion and resilience that she instilled in them. The joy in her life was further multiplied by her beloved grandchildren—McKenna Caudill, Chase Sutton (Briley), Baylee Sutton, Austin Koester, Trey Martin, Megan Martin, Ashley Koester, Aven Scala, and Brayson Naas and two more great grandbabies blessings on the way who brought her immeasurable happiness.
Marlene's heart was also filled with profound love for her great-grandchildren, Sutton Caudill, Isabella, and Genesis Koester, who undoubtedly felt the warmth of her embrace and the brightness of her spirit. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, her vibrant presence will forever resonate in the lives she touched.
Preceding her in death were her father, Forrest "Frosty" Bynum, her mother, Mary Ellen (McKenna) Bynum, and her beloved grandson, Mason Koester. Their memories, forever etched in her heart, reflect the love that trailed behind her throughout her existence.
As we gather to honor and celebrate Marlene's remarkable life, visitation will take place at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown on September 25, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Following this, a Mass will be held at St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway at noon, with the burial ceremony at St. Joseph Cemetery commencing at 1:15 PM.
