Leona Pearl Holeman, 82, of Sturgis, Kentucky formerly of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed away at the Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare in Eldorado. She was born in New Haven, the daughter of the late William Jennings and Edith Marie (Merritt) Hill. Leona married Thomas Edward Holeman in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on the first day of November in 1997. She is survived by a big and loving family; her husband, Ed Holeman of Sturgis, Kentucky; two daughters, Paula Hise, Angela Hite both of Shawneetown; five grandchildren, Abby and Ryan Reed of Clay, Kentucky, Lucas and Lauren Hise of Clay, Kentucky, Amanda Mills of Morganfield, Kentucky, Caleb Mills of Shawneetown, Kelsey and Austin Beaty of Champaign; twelve great grandchildren, Kennady Ryan Reed, Kane and Joshlyn Mills, Arianna Happoldt, Brock Happoldt, Rocklin Beaty, Nash Beaty, Romy Beaty, James Pierce, Lilly Reed, Isabelle Reed, Kadence Reed, and Oaklynn Reed; three great great grandchildren, Axell Mills and Iza Blaize, and Kingston Happoldt; three step children, Leslie and Chip Peltier of Ohio, Debbie and Ray Guess of Louisiana, Tim and Cathy Holeman of Louisiana; eight step grandchildren. Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kenneth Edward Vickery; three sisters, Rose Boyke, Evelyn Bowles, and Fern Frost; two brothers, Archie and William Paul Hill. Visitation for Leona will be held on Saturday, February 20th from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with the Reverend Jeff McMain officiating. Burial will follow at the service at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks will be required.
