Leafa Williams, 87, of Shawneetown, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016, 12:17 p.m. at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg. Leafa was born on December 29, 1928 in Nickelsville, Va., the daughter of the late David Lee and Alice Mars (Sexton) Burke. She married Robert Williams on July 11, 1953 and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2002. Leafa was a member of the Shawneetown First Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, David Williams of Spring Grove; her daughter, Tori and Chris Katro of Springfield; two sisters, Lillian Salyer of Marion, Ind., Juanita Salyer of Gate City, Va.; her brother, Scott Burke of Jonesboro, Ind.; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Also, she was preceded in death not only by her parents and husband but by her son Robert Williams Jr.; her daughter, Susanna Reddick; six sisters and three brothers. Visitation for Leafa will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Leafa will be returned to Nickelsville, Va. with visitation on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home in Weber City, Va. There will be a graveside service the following day, Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Nickelsville Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Hensley officiating. Family request no flowers and donations my be made to the National MS Society.
