Larry E. "Butch" Morse 82 a lifelong resident of Shawneetown passed away January 30th at 3:45pm at his home. He was born in Metropolis, IL on December 14, 1943, the son of the late Luray Morse and Melba (Elam) Beasley. On July 13, 1963, he married the love of his life of 62 years to Judy (Rider) Morse who survives. To their union was born a daughter Tami (Kenny) Hewitt and a son Ted (Kathy) of Shawneetown. Two Grandchildren Jonathon Hewitt and Jessica (Aaron) Dyhrkopp. A great grandaughter Joclyn (Josie) Dyhrkopp (his pride and joy). He leaves behind two sisters Glenda Reeves of Harrisburg, Brenda Winters of Shawneetown, Margaret Burquist, Cindy Taylor, Sondra Ellison, and Martha Jane Atwell and several nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by a sister Linda Kline and brothers Frances (Bud) Morse and James Morse.
Larry worked for 30 years in the Gallatin County School system. He was an avid fisherman. No one could ever seem to beat him when it come to catching crappie. He spent many enjoyable years camping and fishing at Round Pond. Visitation will be Saturday February from 10am until 12pm at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with services to follow at 12pm. The Rev. James Hubbard will officiate. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Shawneeetown, IL.
