Joseph L. “Joe”, Barlow Jr., 78, of Troy, Ill. formerly of Junction, also know as “Pook”, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014, 10:40 p.m., at the Gateway Regional Hospital in Granite City. The son of Joseph L. Sr. and Wilma E. (Tucker) Barlow, he was born in Junction on March 31, 1936. Joe was retired form Amax Coal Company, Barlow Trucking and R.G. Berry Trucking. On October 30, 2004 Joe married Janice L. Knight who survives. Joe was a member of the New Bethel Methodist Church in Glen Carbon and a Mason of the Equality Masonic Lodge #2. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice L. Barlow of Troy; four children, Dana and husband Jim Ritcheson of Murphysboro, Kevin Barlow of Steeleville, Nicky Barlow of Seffner, Fla., Crystal and husband John Gonzenbach of Waterloo; five step children, Tod and wife Mary May of Bunker Hill, Kristine and husband Scott Heather of Marine, Timothy and wife Lisa May of Edwardsville, Kathleen and husband Scott Gathard of Grantfork, Pamala and husband Dave Gorman of Evansville, Ind.; six grandsons, Zach Barlow, Skylar Barlow, Craig Phoenix, Joseph Ritcheson, James Ritcheson, and Christian Gonzenbach; and several step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Brenda L. Collins and Elizabeth “Bridgett” Wray. Visitation for Joe will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. with Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hogan Cemetery near Shawneetown. Memorials in Joe’s honor may be made to the Equality Masonic Lodge #2.
