Jimmie Lenn Mann, 77, a resident of Carrier Mills, Illinois since 2015, passed away December 14, 2025 at his residence.

Jim or "J.L." was born May 1, 1948, in Shawneetown, Illinois to the late Charles Wesley and Margaret Irene (Gobel) Mann. Jim was the youngest of eleven, 7 boys and 4 girls, who were born to the couple and the only one born in a hospital.

Jim was married three times but died a bachelor. His first marriage to Brenda Johnson, now deceased, produced no children. His second marriage to Miss Barbara Warren produced two daughters. Lastly, his third marriage to Loretta Harris saw the birth of his youngest daughter.

Jim served in the US Navy on active-duty status from October 1965 - April 1969, and then in US Naval Reserves from April 1969 - October 1971.

He worked many jobs over the years. He was best known as an auto mechanic but also worked as a truck driver and was a very skilled carpenter. He was retired and disabled for some time now.

Jim is survived by his 4 daughters Tamara (Alyn) Briddick, Veronica (Joel) Johnson, Reena Lanier, and Amanda Thompson; 6 grandchildren: Ashley Wideman, Andrew Wideman, Lane Fields, J.T. (Lexi) Johnson, Kelly Thompson and Kelton Lanier; Nine great-grandchildren Brantley Wideman, Wyatt Wideman, Quinn Johnson-Villegas, Montreiko Peacock, Khysten Morrow, Azrah Peacock, Kingsten Morrow, Zaria Peacock and Reyna Fields. Siblings: Willard Mann, Joyce Riley, Ed (Glenna) Mann and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings: Charles Jr., Max, Betty, Joseph, Mary Lou, Carolyn, and Jack.

Jim's final wishes were to be cremated and his remains interred alongside his parents and siblings in Cottage Grove Cemetery in Saline County. There will be a visitation at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality on Sunday December 21,2025 from 2pm-4pm. Private family burial will follow.
