Jerrel Bowen “Jerry” Walker, 77, of Shawneetown, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Ind. Jerry was born on August 15, 1940 in Shawneetown, the son of the late Ollie Bowen and Lela Faye (Bailey) Walker. He owned and operated the Walker Service Station. Jerry married Vicki Kay Rodgers on December 13, 1961. He was a very active member of the Shawneetown First Baptist Church. Also, he was a Fifty-five year Masonic member and belonged to the Equality Masonic Lodge #2 and a lifetime member of the Shawneetown Fire Department. Jerry is survived by his wife, Vicki Kay Walker of Shawneetown; one son, Tim and Karen Walker of Jacksonville, Ark.; two daughters, Leann and Brett Baker of Louisville, Ky., Barbie and Bryan Deitz of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two sisters, Jewell Faye and Bob Alvey of Harrisburg, Barbara Sue Stockstill of Shawneetown; eight grandchildren, Gregory and Becky Baker, Lewis Walker, Bradley and Tiffany Baker, Brittany and Danny Schulz, Katelyn and Sam Young, Brooke Tripp, Lucas Walker, and Amethyst Walker; four great grandchildren, Josiah Baker, Preston Young, Daniel Schulz, and Riley Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Vera Jean McLain. Visitation for Jerry will be Wednesday, August 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. with Masonic service at 6 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service on Thursday, August 16th at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown with Pastor Jack Hall, Pastor Scott Luckett, and son-in-law, Brett Baker will be officiating. Burial will be at the Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. Donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to the Shawneetown Fire Department.
