Obituary

Jean Carol Williams
December 3, 1940 – February 24, 2026

Jean Carol Williams, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Linda E. White Hospice House, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Born on December 3, 1940, to Kenneth and Aletha Milligan, Jean lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Jerry Williams, as well as her parents.

Jean was a devoted stay-at-home mom until her children were in high school, pouring her energy into raising Britt, Sherry, and Jill with love and dedication. Once her children were older, she worked at Walmart, Elliott’s Steakhouse, River House, the Evansville Courier & Press, and the Red Onion, bringing the same warmth and friendliness to her workplaces as she did to her home.

Jean’s life was a beautiful reflection of devotion — to her church, her community, and most especially her family. She was actively involved in her church, and enjoyed assembling the weekly bulletins and preparing meals in their community building. Jean was always ready to serve with a joyful, vibrant spirit. She was bold, lively, and full of laughter — a presence that could light up any room.

To know Jean was to know her kitchen. Baking and cooking were not just hobbies; they were her ministry. She enjoyed preparing meals for her son’s business, Shawnee Hills Outfitters, and anyone in need, believing she could make people feel better with a cake — and somehow, she always did. Whether someone was sick, celebrating, grieving, or just in need of encouragement, Jean showed up with something warm from the oven and a heart full of love.

Jean loved the color red — bold and vibrant, just like her personality — and she adored her family above all else.

She is survived by her children: Britt Williams (Amy Williams), Sherry Lenn (Jeff Lenn), and Jill Robling (Greg Robling).

Britt’s children include:
Kelsey Allen (Justin) and their children, Carson and Peyton;
and Haley Williams, whose beloved partner Eric passed away, and their children, Emersyn, Avery, and Camryn.

Jill’s children include:
Tyler Robling (Kayla) and their children, Maisie and Atlas;
Dylan Robling (Chelsey) and their children, Andi, Drew, and Banks;
Logan Robling (girlfriend Haley and their future baby girl, Saylor); and Luke Robling.

Sherry’s children include:
Courtney Schmitt (Kyle Schmitt) and their children, Walker and Brady; and Ethan Lenn (Maddie).

Her legacy lives on in the generations that follow her — in the recipes passed down, in the traditions she built, and in the unconditional love she poured into her family.

Though her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with Papaw, the love of her life. Sixty-four years of marriage created a love story that continues beyond this life.

Jean’s life was measured not in years, but in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, her faith, her vibrant spirit, and her cooking and baking. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
