Janice Kay McCabe Hall, 79, passed away on September 28, 2026. She was born on June 26, 1947, in Shawneetown, IL to the late James "Jim" and Frances (Richeson) McCabe.

Janice met the love of her life, Gary Hall, whom she married on October 13, 1967. Together they spent a loving 58 years together. She was also a member of Roads Church in Norris City, Illinois.

She earned an associate degree and later worked for many years in the Gallatin County Clerk’s office. Beyond her work, Janice was an avid genealogy researcher and found great meaning in learning and preserving family history. She was also a former active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Janice will be deeply missed by her husband, Gary Wayne Hall of Ridgway; her daughter, Toni Drone of Ridgway, and Toni’s husband, Jeff Drone; and her son, James “Jim” Hall of Ridgway. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Andrew and Alyson Drone of Ridgway, and Dillon and Stephanie Hall of Shawneetown. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Hayley Capeheart, Bailey Hall, Kayleigh Hall, and Paisley Hall.

She was preceded in death by her father, James “Jim” McCabe; her mother, Frances (Richeson) McCabe; and her sister, Jennifer Lynn McCabe.

A graveside service will be held on October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Westwood Cemetery, 11522-11586 Westwood Road, Shawneetown, Illinois 62984. Pastor Chad Everett will officiate.

Janice will be remembered with love for her devotion to her family, her faithful life, and the care she gave to the history and connections that meant so much to her.
