James E. Potter, 74, formerly of Shawneetown, died on Thursday, June 25, 2015 in Bridgewater, New Jersey. He was born to James Anderson Potter and Hazel B. (Tite) Potter in Gallatin County, near Junction, Ill. and graduated from the Shawneetown High School with the Class of 1959. He lived in Aurora, Ill., moving to Bridgewater in 1983. Jim was a manager for AT&T for many years before retiring. He then moved to Alpharetta, Ga. and Yorktown, Va., returning to Bridgewater several months prior to his passing. Jim is survived by his wife, Dee Mead Potter; one son, Scott Potter, of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Lisa and husband John Zervopoulos of Bridgewater; four brothers, Jerry Potter of East Alton, Gary Potter of Percy, Stephen Potter of Florence, Ky., Dean Potter of Morganfield, Ky.; and six beloved grandchildren, Allison, Julianne, Lindsay, Jonathan, Amanda and Justin. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Barlow. Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching the Nationals baseball team and genealogy research. He was a kind man who loved his family and was a loyal friend who looked for the good in everyone. Jim lived in many places but he was always a Shawneetown boy at heart! A memorial service was held on June 27th at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home in Bound Brook, N.J.
