Helen V. Whipple, 89, of Omaha, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 3:08 p.m. She was born on November 3, 1923 in Sikeston, Mo., the daughter of Edward McKinley and Myrtle Pearl (Collins) Crider. Helen married William F. Winters in March of 1939. Bill preceded her in death on June 3, 1976. In March of 1961 she married William Wilson Whipple and he passed away on April 8, 1979. Helen was a homemaker, worked at several dress shops and was a cook for many area restaurants. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Harrisburg. Helen is survived by two daughters, Sue and Jerry Crane of Shawneetown, Patricia and Robert McClusky of Omaha; one step daughter, Melba and George Allen of Wadsworth, Ohio; two step sons, Gary and Ann Whipple of Omaha, Mark and Susie Whipple of Streamwood; two sisters, Brenda and Donnie Gowan of Shawneetown, Lonnie Hise of Shawneetown; two brothers, Don and Nancy Crider of Cave-In-Rock, D.F. and Shirley Crider also of Cave-In-Rock; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Earl Crider and one sister, Noma Crider. Visitation for Helen will be held on Saturday, August 24 th from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha. Speaker Joe Colon will be officiating.
