George Albert Berlin

George Albert Berlin, 72, of Shawneetown, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, 12:01 p.m., at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.  He was born in Shawneetown on February 19, 1945 to the son of the late Jacob Levi and Eula Mae (Head) Berlin.  George married Laverta Chapman on September 20, 1964.  He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Shawneetown Emmanuel Methodist Church.  George is survived by his loving wife, Laverta Berlin of Shawneetown; two sons, George Berlin Jr. of Shawneetown and Ronnie Berlin of Burlington, Ky.; his brother, Carroll and Linda Berlin of Shawneetown; his sister, Belinda Berlin of Shawneetown; his brother, John and Ruby Berlin of Shawneetown; his brother, Jeffrey and Vanessa Berlin of Evansville, Ind.; his sister, Jean Ann and Gary Smith of Harrisburg.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Eugene Berlin; two sisters, Carolyn Joyce Berlin and Cynthia Elizabeth Heine.  Visitation for George will be held on Saturday, December 16th from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  The Rev. Thad Galloway will officiate the service.  Burial will be at the Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.  Donations in George’s memory may be made to the Gallatin County Food Pantry.
