Freeman Andrew Barnett, 91, of Equality, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, 12:30 p.m. He was born on November 10, 1922 in Equality, the son of William Andrew and Lillie Ann (Compton) Barnett. He married Mildred A. Day on February 8, 1941. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2011. Freeman was a World War II Army veteran and was a retired farmer. He attended the Equality Christian Center and served as an Elder of the Church. He is survived by five daughters, Carolyn and Kenny Patton of Equality, Dianne and Paul Vogel of Herod, Pamela and Jorge Rodriguez of Oak Brook. Patricia and Roger Becker of Bullard, Tex., Lisa Joyner of Murray, Ky.; one son, Donald Andrew Barnett of Palmyra, Cal.; three sisters, Freda Wathen of St. Louis, Mo., Louise and Jim White of Marion, and Virginia Barnett of Marion; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; infant son, Freeman Eric Barnett; and one brother, Barney Barnett. Visitation for Freeman will be on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Equality Christian Center. Rev. Ted Boulds will be officiating. Burial will be with military rites at the Elmwood Cemetery near Equality. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality will be in charge of arrangements.
