Eva Mae Armstrong, 98, of Eldorado, Illinois formerly of Ridgway, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Eldorado Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eldorado. She was born on May 22, 1922 in the Cottage Grove Township, the daughter of the late George and Eva (Pittman) Payne. Eva Mae married M.K. “Kendall” Armstrong on March 4, 1941. M.K. preceded Eva Mae in death on June 30, 1986. Eva Mae worked at the Omaha Telephone office and then at Omaha Furniture for twenty-eight years. Also she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She was very active in the community as a Sunday School teacher and lead music for may years at the Omaha Presbyterian Church. Eva Mae was a member of Gallatin County Homemakers and enjoyed sewing, quilting, singing, and dancing. She is survived by her daughter, Luann and Joe Jackson of Harrisburg; three sons, John and Tresa Armstrong of Norris City, William Armstrong of Harrisburg, Robert and Karen Armstrong of Norris City; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Eva Mae was preceded in death by her parents: her husband; five sisters and three brothers. Visitation for Eva Mae will be held on Monday, January 25th from noon until service time at 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha with Reverend Chris Winkleman officiating. Burial will be at Palestine II Cemetery near Omaha. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks will be required.
