Eugene Dodd

Eugene "Gene" Dodd, 83, of Shawneetown, Illinois passed away after an extended illness at his home on Sunday the first day of June of 2025. He was born in Jeisyville on October 19th , 1941, the son of the late James Floyd Sr. and Agnes Pearl (Stewart) Dodd. Gene married the former Doris F. "Tiny" Maynard on June 25th, 1993 and she preceded him in death on April 10th, 2018. He married the former Judy Williamson on February 9th, 2020 who survives. Gene was a retired Coal Miner and also ran is own Machine and repair shop for many years. He enjoyed and took pride in his big garden. Gene was a Christian in faith and belonged to the Honeycomb Church of God in Herod. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Judy Dodd of Shawneetown; his daughter, Cheryl Dodd of Marion; his son, Anthony Colt and Melissa Barton of Carmi; six siblings, Carmen Sipes of Benton, James Dodd Jr. of Carbondale, Lewis and Linda Dodd of Fredonia, Kentucky, Lewie and Brenda Dodd of Marion, Kentucky, Kay Gordon of West Frankfort, Lee and Debra Dodd of West Frankfort; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Edward Dodd; two brothers, Lloyd and John Dodd; four sisters, Frances Dodd, Reetha Conners. Shirley Kleindinnon, Thalalia Hammers. Visitation for Gene will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will be the following day on Wednesday, June 4th at 11 a.m. at the Honeycomb Church God in Herod with Bishop Harold E. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Hogan Cemetery near Shawneetown.
