Edward W. “Ed” Febuary, 98, of Ridgway, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017, 9:14 p.m., at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was born on the 9th of December, 1918 in Ridgway, the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Kohl) Febuary. Ed owned and operated the Colnon Insurance Agency for thirty years. He proudly served in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific. A member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. As an Army veteran he belonged to the VFW and the Ridgway American Legion. Edward married Kathleen Abell on February 23, 1949, she preceded in death on January 16, 1976. He remarried on March 2, 1978 to the late Mary Edna Fals Cox who passed on the 16th of February in 2002. Edward was a wonderful husband, father, step father and a loving “Papa”. He is survived by three daughters, Deborah and Shorty Via of Marion, Sue and Kevin Dunn of Munster, Ind., Donna and Brent Browning of Sheboygan, Wis.; two sons, Michael E. Febuary of Galatia, Steve and Billie Febuary of Ridgway; twelve grandchildren, Shelly, LaDawn, Joe, Ryan, Katie, Natalie, Mark, Erin, Angela, Alex, Shaun, and Amy; sixteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; one nephew, Richard J. Febuary Jr. of Alexandria, La.; five step children, Tom Cox, Kay Raymer, Helen McCarty, Janet O’Neal and Linda Satterfield along with numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; and one brother, Richard Febuary Sr.; his step mother, Laurentine Febuary. Visitation for Ed will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 9 a.m. until Mass time at 11 a.m. at the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway. Mass will be conducted by his grandson, Fr. Ryan Browning, Msnr. Joseph Lawler, and Fr. Steven Beatty. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery near Ridgway with Military Rites. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway will be in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank Ferrell Hospital, Wabash Christian Retirement Center and Deaconess VNA Hospice. For the wonderful care given to Edward. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Kateri Catholic Church, the Gallatin County Senior Citizens, Wabash Christian or VNA Hospice. Memorial envelopes will available at the church.
