Wendel “Denny” Morris, 71, of Cape Coral, FL formerly of Shawneetown, IL, passed away suddenly on May 26, 2021. He was born in Shawneetown on August 27, 1949, the son of the late George and Marjorie Wilmetta (Oxford) Morris. Denny leaves behind his wife Judy of Cape Coral, FL, beloved daughters Kimberly Knop and husband Jeremy of Gardner, KS., and Karie Ann Morris of Steeleville, IL, dearest granddaughter Kristin Morris of Sparta, Il and cherished great-granddaughter Addilyn Welten. He leaves behind several siblings Winfred Morris, David Morris, Wanda Rash and Wilmetta Baird. He is predeceased by his brother Malcolm Morris. Surrounded by much love, Denny is additionally survived by his extended ‘second’ family including Tracie and Ryan Ingrasin of Lloyd Harbor, NY, Corey and Dewí Ingrasin of Badhoevedorp, the Netherlands, and five adoring grandchildren- Dylan, Drew, Reese, Luca, and Noa. Denny spent his early years on a picturesque farm in rural Illinois until duty called him to the US Army where he proudly served his country in Vietnam. Upon his return, Denny launched a career with the United Mine Workers Union in Illinois. After years in the mining industry, Denny joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as a high line electrician, where he was proud to retire with a perfect safety record. Upon his retirement, Denny and Judy moved from Shawnee, KS, to Cape Coral, FL., where they built a beloved community of friends and welcomed family to their new home. Denny was known for his boundless wit, sly smile, unparalleled generosity, and a helping hand to anyone in need. Behind his quiet demeanor laid the heart of a man whose love knew no bounds. Denny will be laid to rest on the same farm he spent in his youth. He would want me to bid farewell to all his “Kid’s” and “Misters” . There will be a graveside service for Denny on Saturday, June 19th at 11 a.m. at Reid Cemetery near Shawneetown. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown in charge of arrangements.
