Conrad L. Howard, 80, of East McClernand, Shawneetown, Ill., passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009, 5:21 p.m.; at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion. He was born March 13, 1929 in Junction, Ill. to Herman and Josephine (Kinder) Howard Sr. Con owned and operated Howard Machine Shop in Shawneetown. He proudly served our country in the army during the Korean War. Con is survived by Loretta Howard; a daughter, Patsy and Todd Kietzman of Evansville, Ind.; two sons, John Rodney and Maria Howard, Bob and Carol Howard of Junction; two sisters, Rebecca Ann Redeman of Tucson, Az., Mary Jane and Henry Gross of Marion; six brothers, Bill Howard, of Junction, Jack and Brenda Howard of Shawneetown, Jim and Louise Howard of Shawneetown, Dave and Joann Howard of Dayton, Oh., Jerry and Helen Howard of Shawneetown, Dan Howard of Shawneetown; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Seth Wood of Cincinnati, Oh., Kimberly Howard of Herrin; three grandsons, Josh Howard of Ridgway, Chad Kietzman and Justin Kietzman, both of Evansville, Ind. He was preceded in death by parents; one son, Gregory A. Howard; two sisters, Betty Krikie and Ellen Kay Bosaw; one brother, Herman Howard Jr. Visitation for Con will held Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2009 with Rev. Harry Spivey officiating. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery with full military rites.
