Clarence L. Sturgill

Clarence L. Sturgill, 76, of Shawneetown, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. He was born on September 9, 1936 in Cave-In-Rock, the son of Carl and Beulah (Oxford) Sturgill. Sturgill married Neva Joyce Stubbs on July 6, 1963 and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2009. He was a retired truck driver and was known in the trucking community. He is survived by his daughter, Kim and Tom Benedict of Shawneetown; special friend, Elva Wilson of Shawneetown; three grandchildren, C.J. Sturgill, Cheyenne Prichett and Kelly Parrish; two great grandchildren, J.T. Parrish and Destiny Benedict. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 7 p.m. with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. There will be a private burial at Westwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to VNA Hospice.
