Clarence I. Oldham

Clarence I. “C.I.” Oldham, 89, of Shawneetown, Ill., passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017, 9:27 a.m., at the Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.   He was born on November 1, 1927 in Shawneetown, the son of the late Clarence Irvin and Mary E. (Gross) Oldham.  C. I. was co-founder of Oldham Brothers, Inc.,  a family owned farming and agribusiness.  He married Joan Laverne Drake on November 9, 1949 in Sturgis, Ky.  Clarence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Shawneetown, and a 32nd degree Mason member of the Equality Masonic Lodge #2.  He is survived by his wife Joan Oldham of Shawneetown; one son, C.I. Jr. and Lou Eva Oldham of Shawneetown; one daughter, Sally Jo and Richard Hyatt of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren, Christy and Scott Scherrer of Shawneetown, Joel Oldham of Shawneetown, Robbie Hyatt, Bryan Hyatt, and Emily Hyatt, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; and five great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles I. Oldham.  Visitation for Clarence will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  The Rev. Roger Lyons will be officiating with burial at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.  Donations in C.I.’s memory may be made to the Shawneetown First Presbyterian Church.
