Charles J."Red" Tucker, 74, 551 Main St. Junction, passed away at his residence, Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 9:40 a.m. He was born in Shawneetown on October 6, 1934 to Charlie and Opal (Brison) Bowles. Red retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a mine construction worker. He was Vietnam War veteran. He married Ruby Rushing on August 21, 1981, who survives. Red is also survived by children; Cheryl, David and Kimberly; step children, Jerry and Danny; three sisters, Lorene Patrick of McLeansboro, Velma "Sis" and Chester "Checker" Darnell of Shawneetown, Doris "Tiny" and Gene Dodd of Shawneetown; three brothers, Harrison and Lela Tucker of Evansville, Ind., Bob and Jane Tucker of Eldorado, Fred and Ester Tucker of Equality; seven grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; four sisters; four brothers; and step son, Michael Marshall. Visitation for Red will be held Friday, December 12th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 13th at 2 p.m. with Rev. James R. Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westwood Cemetery with military honors.
