Charles Frederick Brockett, 91, of Omaha, Ill., passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. Charles was born near Omaha on July 28, 1924 to the late George and Elva (Wilson) Brockett. He graduated from Norris City High School in 1942. He farmed the family farm and worked at Scot Lad in Eldorado until his retirement. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Willard, Curtis, and Reece Brockett; a brother-in-law, Sam Ash; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Brockett. He is survived by one sister, Lois Brockett Ash of Evansville, Ind.; two sister-in-laws, Genevieve Hutchison of Omaha and Marie Brockett of Norris City. Charles is also survived by several nieces and nephews; Sharon Lilly, Alice Workman, Mary Beth Sutton, Don Brockett, Susan Jourdan, Linda Brown, Steve Ash, Brenda Covert and David Brockett. Funeral services for Charles F. Brockett will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until service time. Rev. Joe Poirot, pastor and Rev. Roger Roark of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Harrisburg where Charles attended for many years will officiate, with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery near Norris City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.
