Catherine Marie (Swinford) Haney

Catherine Marie Haney, 74, of Harrisburg, Ill., after a courageous battle with cancer passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Harrisburg Medical Center.  She was born on July 30, 1944 in Golconda, the daughter of the late James Lawrence and Ruby (Schnake) Swinford.  Catherine married James E. Haney on the 3rd of December 1966.  For twenty-five years she worked for Walmart in the fabric section of the store.  After her years at Walmart she owned and operated along with her sister, Shirley, the Catherine’s Fabric Shop in Harrisburg for seven years.  Also she was a member of the Saline Ridge Baptist Church near Harrisburg.  She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Haney of Harrisburg; her son, Tim Haney also of Harrisburg; two sisters, Shirley and Doug Blackman of Stonefort, Lucille and Rue Berger of Golconda; and several special friends including Jean Price.  Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Romana Kazienko and Mary Jones Beal; three brothers, James and J.D. Swinford and infant brother, James Jesse Swinford.  Visitation for Catherine will be held on Tuesday, September 11th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Funeral will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 12th at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dave Miller officiating.  Burial will be at the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.
