Carolyn spent over 40 years as a bookkeeper for Southeastern Illinois Electric Cooperative, where she was known for her meticulous work ethic and professionalism. Her contributions were valued by colleagues and community alike, reflecting her steadfast commitment to her role.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Carolyn’s heart was deeply rooted in her family. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she considered her world and loved dearly. Her nurturing spirit was a constant source of comfort and joy to those closest to her.

A passionate traveler, Carolyn embraced the joy of exploring new places and welcomed the experiences that came with each journey. She also had a profound love for flowers and gardening, finding peace and satisfaction in tending to her garden and surrounding herself with nature’s beauty.

Carolyn is survived by her beloved daughter, Kim (Steve) Fromm, who, along with her siblings, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many loved ones forward the legacy of love Carolyn so deeply valued. She is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Hughes; mother, Kathryn Sloan; sister, Jane Chester; brother-in-law, Bob Chester; brother, Rick Hughes; nephew, David Chester; and her late husband, Floyd Yates.
