Carole Sue (Caldwell) Wenzel

Carole Sue Wenzel, 79, of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020  at her home in Brookstone Estates of  Harrisburg.  She was known as a loving mother, and known as “Nanny”, and “Oldfolks”.  Sue was born in Shawneetown on March 15, 1941, the daughter of the late Robert G. Caldwell and Dorothy Marie (Fuller) Caldwell Frields.  She married Jerome Paul “Jerry” Wenzel  on February 29, 1960 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Old Shawneetown.  Jerry preceded her in death on August 15, 2019.   She is survived by her loving family, one son, Stacy and Pam Wenzel of Junction; two daughters, Holly and Gregory Jackson of Casper, Wyoming, Delia and Roby Podoriscki of Harrisburg; two sisters, Betty Jo and James Head of Shawneetown, and Robbie Crane also of Shawneetown; seven grandchildren, Jerome Wenzel of Shawneetown, Colt and Lane Wenzel of Junction, Carole and Chris Jackson, Gabby and Ethan Applegate, Brayden Jackson all of Casper, Wyoming, Blane Podoriscki and Ann Marie Podoriscki both of Harrisburg; six great grandchildren, Colden, Davis, Brady, Asher, Sawyer, and Noelle.  Sue was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Donna Stacy; and her brother Harry Caldwell.  There will be a private family service with burial at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Shawneetown.  Donations in Sue’s memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Cemetery.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown in charge of arrangements.
