Amos Earl Stanley, 75, of Fort Meade, Fla., formerly of Shawneetown, Ill., passed away suddenly Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Bartow Regional Medical Center. Born April 9, 1943 in Shawneetown, the son of th late Amos P. and Mary (Earnest) Stanley. Earl was a resident of Fort Meade for twenty-six years. He was a Project Superintendent with Minserco for many years. Earl was a graduate of Shawneetown Community High School, and a member of the Moose Lodge. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Earl is survived by his wife, Sharon Bowers Stanley of Fort Meade; three sons, Stewart Stanley (DeeDee) of Eldorado, Shannon Stanley (Angela) of Harrisburg, Shawn Stanley (Heather) of Macedonia; two step daughters, Kay Howell (Cliff) of Sebring, Fla., Lisa Bowers of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother, Raymond Stanley of Saluda, Va.; twin sister, Merle Crane of Eldorado; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. There will be a graveside memorial service on Sunday, September 9th at 2 p.m. at the Stanley Cemetery near Shawneetown with Pastor Jack Hall officiating. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown will be in charge of local arrangements.
