Thomas “Tom” Lewis, 78, of Equality, Illinois  passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 3, 2020.  He was born in Viper, Kentucky on November 19, 1941, the son of the late Jasper Joseph and Leona Lewis.  Tom married Margie Browning on December 1, 1966.  He was a coal miner for Peabody Coal for thirty-five years.  Tom was a member of the New Life Christian Center in Equality and a mason at the Equality Masonic Lodge #2.  Survived by his loving family; his wife, Margie Lewis of Equality; his daughter, Stephanie Pyle of Harrisburg; two sons, Kevin Lewis of Norris City, Patrick and Crystal Lewis of Belle Rive; seven grandchildren, Alex and Eli Jackson, Tori and Andy McTaggart, Jake Pyle, Brooke Pyle, Gracie Pyle, Landen Lewis and Lane Lewis; ten great grandchildren.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffrey Odis Lewis; one brother, Donald Newman; one great grandson, Jordyn Pyle.  Visitation for Tom will be held on Wednesday, August 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  There will be a graveside service with Masonic rites on Thursday, August 6th at 11 a.m. at the Leamington Cemetery.  Reverend Blake Clayton and Reverend Marshall Glover will be officiating the service.  Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks will be required.

We are so sorry this happened and it deeply saddens us all. As i think of all the times we did things as a group growing up all the fishing trips to Jones Lake the baseball games and the fish fries over the summer. The coon hunting and deer hunting in the winter. Love you all Jamie

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of a dear friend whom our children called “uncle Tom“. We are so grateful for the years that we have known him. He was so generous kind and sharing to all who came his way. Our prayers are with the family.
