Sheila Faye Pittman, 72, of Ridgway, passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.  She was born in Shawneetown on August 23, 1947, the daughter of the late Cecil Ernest and Ida Estelle (Ellis) Thomas.  Sheila married the love of her life, Darrell Duane “Butch” Pittman on October 22, 1966.  Butch preceded her death on December 24, 2013 and she missed him every day since that day.  She was very active in the hustle and bustle of the Ridgway Community.  Sheila worked as a secretary of ASCS office for at least eighteen years.  She worked for many years as an EMT on Edwards Ambulance service and helped with funerals for both Edward’s and Vickery’s.  She served for over forty years on the Ridgway Popcorn Day board as treasurer, secretary, and entertainment coordinator.  Also, she helped the town with the Christmas and Halloween Haunted Park at the Ridgway Park.  Sheila loved to bake cookies, fish with Butch, and talking with friends and family.  She gave out her famous popcorn balls for Halloween to the neighborhood kids.   She devoted her life and time to the Auction and Fair Grounds events and helped her community when and where she could.  Survived by her son, Chad Pittman of Equality; her sister, Kathy and John Seely of Junction; her niece, Sara Seely Rushing of Ridgway; her nephew, Matthew and Katie Seely of Omaha.  Visitation for Sheila will be on Saturday, November 30th from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway.  Reverend Duke Williams will be officiating with burial at Jackson Cemetery near Ridgway.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ridgway Golden Circle.
