James Elvis Bartley, 81, Eldorado, Ill. formerly of Omaha, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.  He was born on March 1, 1938 in Carmi, the son of the late James Wilbur and Edith (Ellison) Bartley.  James married Alva Jean Richardson on July 11th of 1959.  He was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Carmi.  James is survived by his wife Alva Bartley of Eldorado; four daughters, Cathy and Larry Murphy of Norris City, Connie and Rick White of McLeansboro, Cindy and Doug Jarman of Omaha, Christie and Rick Willoughby of Shawneetown; two brothers, Dennis and Teri Bartley of Brownsville, Gary and Betty Bartley of Carmi; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Karen Sue Bartley and Carolyn Boston; his sister, Velma Durbin; five brothers, Robert, Paul, Merl, Ernest, and Junior Bartley; his granddaughter, Jennifer and grandson, Anthony. Visitation for James will be held on Thursday, August 1st, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha.  Funeral will be on Friday, August 2nd at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Truman Sauls officiating.  Burial will follow at the Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven.  Donations in James’ memory may be made to the funeral home.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Sonny's passing. Sending prayers and deepest condolences to you all at this time. Sonny was a wonderful guy and a terrific neighbor. He sure has his arms around Carolyn now. That's for sure.

I remember Sonny calling me his "Buddy" the first time I met him in 1979! Yes you are my buddy....RIP!
