Rev. Cecil Thurston Patton, 87, of Cave-in-Rock, Ill., passed away surrounded by his devoted family on December 2, 2018 at the Baptist Health in Paducah, Ky.   Cecil was born on May 6, 1931 in Cave-in-Rock, the son of the late Lawrence Thurston and Ula (Reed) Patton.  He married Van Marie Hall on December 2, 1955, he passed on their sixty-third anniversary.  Cecil was a faithful member of the Leamington Community Church.  He was a proud Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of the National Rifle Assn.  Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Van Marie Patton of Cave-in-Rock; two sons, Dennis Patton of Franklin, Tenn., Danny and Linda Patton of Cave-in-Rock; two brothers, Garcia and Thelma Patton of Xenia, Ohio, Billy Patton of Benton, Ky.; one sister, Ethna and Bill Joyce of Alton; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters.  Visitation for Cecil will be held on Thursday, December 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Leamington Community Church near Equality.  Funeral service will be held the next day at the church, Friday, December 7th at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lee Fricker, Rev. Arthur Austin Jr., and Rev. Marshall Glover officiating the service.  Burial will be at Cave Hill Cemetery near Cave-in-Rock.  Donations in Cecil’s memory may be made to the Leamington Community Church, Cave Hill Cemetery, or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.

Van, I am so sorry for your loss. You and Cecil had many happy years together and you will have a lot of beautiful memories to cherish for the rest of your life. I know it wont be the same as having him here with you , but it will be a comfort to you and your family. I just wanted to tell you i will be praying for gods comfort for you all during these trying days. My love to you sister Van. Anita

We want to share our deepest condolences and also rejoice in that we know Mr. Cecil is in Heaven and his Home going was appointed by our Heavenly Father. His legacy is extraordinary and to have known him and Mrs. Van Marie is to love them and see the Love of the Lord expressed in the lives they have lived. We love you Patton family! May the Lord comfort your hearts and minds during this time.

Cecil always on the go and ready to lend a hand, the sweetest neighbors. Mike and I will miss seeing you wave down the road and stop by on your tractor just to say hi, etc. Van Marie we are sorry for your loss. You are such a sweet person too! If you need us, we are here to help in any way we can.
