Noble Howard Moye, 83, of Ridgway, Ill. went to Heaven on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.  He was born on May 5, 1934 in Eldorado, the son of Elmer and Eula (Wathen) Moye.  Noble was married for sixty-five years  to the love of his life, Irma L. (Overton) Moye, on  February 8, 1952.    Noble will always be remembered for the eight years he served as Gallatin County Sheriff, the many years as Deputy Sheriff, and Deputy Coroner.  He played a big part in the Democrat Party as he was a Precinct  Committeeman for fifty years.  He was a retired  coal miner who loved life and visiting with family and friends.  Farming, hunting, and an appreciation for guns and knives were often the topics enjoyed over a good meal.  Noble was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ridgway, Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites, Shriners, Illinois Sheriff’s Association, Elks, Moose, Eagles, National Rifle Association, and United Mine Workers Association. Along with his caring and loving wife, he is survived by his four loving daughters, Sherri (Gary) Lane of Leamington, Linda (Cliff) Sutton of Harrisburg, Tina Wathen of Ridgway, and Kristi (Johnny) Abell of Ridgway.  Seven grandchildren Travis (Emma) Lane, Brittney (Nick) Capeheart, Courtney and Tyler Sutton, Lauryn Abell (Jeff Will), Michael and Morgan Abell.  Eleven great grandchildren Brittany & Bethany York, Jake Golden, Logan and Dylan Lane, Halle, Ellah, and Ava Lane, Brayden and Aniston Capeheart, and Eden Will.  Two great great grandchildren Caleb and Aiden Fellner.  Noble was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Richard and Lillis Moye, and one sister Edna West, his son-in-law Don Wathen, and one grandson Jason Lane.  Visitation will be held at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Auxier officiating.  Interment will be at Jackson Cemetery in Ridgway.  Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund of Ridgway.

It saddens me to receive the word that Noble Moye had passed away. I worked for the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service for ten years back in the 1980's and Noble and I became good friends. We always got along wonderfully and I was at his farmstead often way back then. Seems like yesterday. He would ask me my opinion about a pesticide or a certain brand of seed corn and we would discuss both of our opinions----sort of the two heads are better than one situation. Noble certainly loved his family. Sincerely, Chuck Richey, Galatia.

It makes us sad that Uncle Noble is gone but yet we are happy to know he is in heaven with many loved ones. Will always remember visiting with him at Popcorn days and the way he would make us laugh. Love to all the family, there will be hard days but oh all the wonderful memories you have!!

Irma, I am so sad to hear of Noble's passing. I just can't imagine him being gone. I remember him at church when I was a youngster and his ability and willingness to help no matter the day or time.
You certainly have my deepest sympathy. I know we never want to let go but Heaven has gained another hero!
