Emma Joan Haney Wilson, 84, of Harrisburg, Illinois formerly of Equality, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.  She was born near New Haven on May 23, 1936, the eldest and only daughter of the late Harold Thomas and Madge Lorene (Hardesty) Porter.  Joan married her high school sweetheart, Billy Dale Haney on February 12, 1955.  Sadly, Bill preceded her in death on February 17, 2001.  On March 12, 2011 she married Robert I. Wilson who survives.  Joan loved her garden and flowers and spent  many summer canning fresh fruits and vegetables.  In later years she enjoyed decorating her home and yard for every occasion and was a QVC expert shopper.  Also, she loved to piece quilts and had a nice collection of her own quilts.  She was a faithful member of the Equality United Methodist church, Tuesday Club and Red Hat Society.  Joan is survived by her loving husband, Robert I. Wilson of Harrisburg; her two daughters, Debbie Pearce of Galatia, Diana and Mike Vickery of Junction; five brothers, Allen and Janie Porter, Tom and Mary Ann Porter, Jim and Lynda Porter, Don and Ann Porter, Paul and Cecilia Porter; two granddaughters, Jennifer and David Hale of Galatia, Jessica and Clint Woodrow of Emporia, Kansas; five great grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, and Tristen Hale, Austin and Cooper Woodrow; the Wilson extended family, Doyle and Susie Wilson, Dr. Loren and Sandy Wilson, Dr. Myron Wilson; several nieces and nephews.  And a special thanks to Beth and Delana in our time of need.  Visitation for Joan will be held on Monday, July 27th from 9 a.m. until service time and 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. The Reverend Thad Galloway will officiate with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery near Equality.  Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Friends of Jesus Food Pantry.  A reminder that due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be required.
